Carnival Platja d’Aro-Carnaval

Of the many excellent carnivals in Catalonia, this one is possibly the most famous. Dates for now are estimated, but it will be around that time this year. It goes on for 12 days and attracts over half a million visitors each year. Many of the carnivals have their main, glittering parades on the Saturday – but in the case of Platja d’Aro, they have two consecutive Saturdays with parades.

The Gran Pasacalle de Carrozas y Comparsas is the biggest event of the Carnival, and floats of around 70 or so different groups march, while there is lots of different performances.
